Chapter 1, Getting Started

Using SCO Doctor

You can start SCO Doctor in one of the following ways:

SCO Doctor incorporates a Windows-style graphical user interface. If you are not familiar with Microsoft® Windows or similar graphical interfaces, see Appendix B, ``Using the Graphical Character Interface.''

All commands are listed in pull-down menus. The menu titles are displayed in the menu bar on the second line of the screen. One letter within each title and each command is highlighted in red on a color monitor. If you are using a monochrome monitor, it will be indicated by a bold font. Whenever a menu tree is described, the menu title and the menu items and sub-items will be separated by commas and highlighted in bold. For example, View, Processes, CPU means invoke the View Menu, then select Processes and then select CPU.

NOTE: Menu items not relevant or available to a particular operation are rendered inaccessible and grayed out of the menu display.

There are menu options that are grayed out if you are using SCO Doctor Lite, SCO Agent, and in some cases, SCO Doctor. Depending on the feature, these options are only available from SCO Doctor or SCO Doctor for Networks.

Selecting a Menu

If you are running doctor on the system console or on a display running in scancode mode you can select the menu using the ALT key. Otherwise you will need to use F10, or Ctrl-D if the function keys do not work.
