Network Adaptor Interfaces Table

Function:

Description:

Data Fields:

Name - The name of the networking interface.

Address - The network address of the interface.

Txpkts - The number of transmitted data packets.

Txerrs - The number of transmit errors.

Rxpkts - The number of received packets.

Rxerrs - The number of receive errors.

NOTE: It is normal for most network protocol adaptors to detect and discard a number of bad packets. These errors are normally corrected by upper layer protocols. In the case of Ethernet and the TCP/IP protocol, the TCP layer should request retransmission of all faulty packets and then reassemble the packets into their correct sequence. If the interface error count becomes a significant percentage of the total packet count (greater than 5%), this indicates there is some hardware or configuration error within the network adaptor.
