Chapter 2, Views

Interpreting Views

SCO Doctor's intelligent interpretation uses a neural network to diagnose your system. A plain-language interpretation of the current view is displayed at the same time as taking into account other system parameters. For example, the interpretation of the system CPU view takes into account factors such as a swapping bottleneck. If required, recommendations are made to improve system performance.

This allows the system administrator to have a more general view of the various facets of a system's performance while SCO Doctor alerts advise of specific problems using predetermined thresholds. See Chapter 3, ``Alerts'' for more information.

Consistent use of the SCO Doctor interpret feature will educate the system administrator.
