Terminal I/O Load View
Function:
To display the terminal I/O usage pattern.
Description:
This view displays a vertical bar graph showing the data throughput to terminal devices.
Terminal input should be very low unless you are using serial ports for data transfer. Typing speed peaks at about 10 characters per second and is normally less than five characters per second.
A faulty (chattering) serial port or a faulty signal ground can generate hundreds of spurious characters per second and can consume considerable CPU resources. A good prevention measure is to ensure that all unused serial lines are disabled.
